World Heart Day 2023

World Heart Day (WHD) is a reminder to EVERYONE to take care of their hearts. In 2023, the campaign focuses on an important first step: knowing your heart FIRST.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s #1 killer.

Combined, conditions affecting the heart and/or blood vessels, – including heart attack, stroke, and heart failure – kill more than 20.5M EVERY YEAR.

The goal of World Heart Day is to bring the number of deaths down. And there is hope! 80% of premature deaths from CVD are preventable. Taking small steps to alter our lifestyles like watching what we eat and drink, exercising more, and managing stress, can help us ALL to manage our heart health and beat CVD.

World Heart Day Facts

2000 – World Heart Day established a partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) to create a day that would raise awareness and mobilize international action against cardiovascular disease.

2011 – World Heart Day becomes an annual event – bringing people together to increase awareness, engage communities, and advocate for universal access to CVD prevention, detection, and treatment.

2020 – World Heart Day launches #UseHeart to encourage everyone to think about the many ways they can use the biggest and most important muscle in their body.

Want to Help?

Interested supporting World Heart Day by helping a great cause that provides AEDs to youth sports organizations with the goal of saving young lives? Consider donating to Heart of the Game (HOTG), a charity created by GOLDLAW Founder & CEO Craig Goldenfarb. Your donation may help save the life of someone you know!

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up,” said Goldenfarb. “Heart of the Game is blessed to be able to provide the equipment and training to help our youth stay healthy and active.”
